Frequently asked questions
What can physiotherapy help with?
Physiotherapy can help with a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including back and neck pain, joint pain, muscle and tendon injuries, sports injuries, arthritis, post-operative rehabilitation, balance problems, and reduced mobility. Treatment is tailored to your individual needs and goals.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book an appointment directly without seeing your GP first. If I feel you would benefit from further medical assessment, I will discuss this with you and advise you accordingly.
What happens during my first appointment?
Your initial appointment includes a detailed discussion about your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and goals, followed by a physical assessment. I will explain my findings, discuss the likely cause of your symptoms, and work with you to develop an individual treatment plan.
How long are appointments?
Initial appointments are 60 minutes. Follow-up appointments are either 40 or 60 minutes, depending on your clinical needs, allowing plenty of time for assessment, treatment, advice and rehabilitation.
What should I wear?
For your physical assessment, please wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely, such as a t-shirt, shorts, or other suitable clothing. Even if you are attending for a specific issue (for example, a knee problem), your physiotherapist may need to assess other areas such as your hip or lower back to understand the full picture and guide your care.
Will I receive hands-on treatment?
Where appropriate, treatment may include manual therapy alongside exercise rehabilitation, education and advice. Treatment choices are guided by the best available evidence, your assessment findings and your individual circumstances.
Will I be given exercises to do at home?
Yes. Exercise is often an important part of recovery and rehabilitation. Where appropriate, you will receive a personalised exercise programme with clear instructions to help you continue your progress between appointments. I use Physitrack, an exercise prescription platform that provides videos and guidance to help you perform your exercises correctly and confidently at home.
How many appointments will I need?
This varies depending on your condition, your goals and how you respond to treatment. Some people improve after one or two sessions, while others benefit from a longer course of rehabilitation. We will review your progress together and agree any ongoing treatment.
Do you offer home visits?
Home visits may be available within Beverley and the surrounding area for patients who are unable to attend the clinic because of mobility or accessibility needs. Please get in touch before booking so we can discuss whether a home visit is appropriate.
Do you treat children?
Restore Physiotherapy provides assessment and treatment for adults aged 18 and over. I specialise in adult musculoskeletal physiotherapy and do not offer physiotherapy services for children or young people.
Can I claim through my private health insurance?
If you wish to use private medical insurance, please contact me before booking. I am happy to provide the information required for you to check eligibility with your insurer. Please note that reimbursement depends on your individual policy and insurer requirements.
Is parking available?
Yes. Details of nearby parking and directions to the clinic can be found on the Find Us page.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. No cancellation charges apply if you provide at least 24 hours' notice. If payment has already been made, a full refund will be provided for cancellations made 24 hours or more before your appointment date and time.
How do I book an appointment?
Appointments can be booked online or by getting in touch via phone or email. If you're unsure whether physiotherapy is right for you, please feel free to contact me before booking.
